Websters definition of Ripsnorter...

one that is remarkable for strength,
intensity and/or excellence.

Ripsnorter Kennel acquired their first German Wirehaired Pointer in 1976. Not long after, they figured one more wouldn’t hurt and the foundation for greatness was laid with “Duff”, BIS/BISS AM/CAN/BAH CH.Windhaven’s Stutzer Stumper. “Duff” took the Georges’ on the ride of their lives and they were hooked on the GWP forever.

Over the next 40 years MANY stars have been born either under the Ripsnorter Kennel name or directly from their breedings. Many of todays top GWP’s are direct descendants of the Ripsnorter line. Ripsnorter Kennel has produced hundreds of champions along with many other titles in hunting, obedience and agility in the United States, United Kingdom, Brazil, Australia, and Canada They have had top producing sires in the US, UK, Australia and top dams in the US. They are the home of the US top producing sire of all time. It is a priority at Ripsnorter Kennel to maintain versatility along with superior conformation and sound temperament.

Jeff was drawn to the versatile side of the GWP and has always hunted and obedience trained the Ripsnorter dogs on a personal level. Since retiring from teaching he has  become more involved in NAVHDA and AKC hunt tests. His primary breeding interest is now in Pudelpointers but he is still very involved with the field training and testing of the GWPs. He has tested multiple dogs in the Invitational for their Versatile Championship and countless others with Prize 1's in Utility and Natural Ability. Jeff also enjoys traveling and is educating his grandkids on the training of great bird dogs.

Lisa was introduced to the world of dogs at age five by her parents, Jeff George and Helen Witt, and traveled the country with her mother. Over the many years she learned everything possible about breeding the BEST quality DUAL purpose GWP’s. She competed in Junior Showmanship for awhile qualifying and competing at the Westminster Kennel Club show. She preferred the conformation ring over Juniors and at age thirteen she not only won Best Junior Handler but also Best Of Breed at the GWPCA National specialty with “BISS CH Windhaven’s Ripsnorter Cassy”. Lisa continued her interest in dogs going on to become a Veterinary Technician and eventually working for world renowned Dr. Robert V. Hutchison at the Animal Clinic Northview Inc/International Canine Semen Bank-OH as a Canine Reproduction Technician. Lisa is a Breeder of Merit Silver and continues breeding and showing GWP's today while raising her two human kids, Hadley and Aidan.

Hadley, Lisa's oldest daughter, is now involved herself in the breeding and preservation of purebred dogs with completing multiple championships and hunting titles on our dogs. Hadley hopes to carry on the Ripsnorter legacy with a love for dogs and passion for ethical breeding and is now the third generation to win the GWPCA National Specialty with a Ripsnorter dog. She was named an AKC Breeder of Merit at only 15 years old and has recently been appointed as Register of Merit Chairperson, Breeder Education Liaison and Junior Coordinator for the GWPCA. While working for some of the top handlers in the country Hadley had a successful Junior Showmanship career, qualifying for the Westminster Kennel Club show twice and placing third in the nation as well as qualifying for the AKC National Championship multiple times and making the finals. She currently has her Junior Showmanship judging license and continues to travel every weekend to shows in hopes to begin handling dogs herself in the future.

Helen is now retired and enjoying life with her current dogs and horses in Tennessee after a successful handling career in dogs with countless National wins and all breed Best In Shows.  She is still very active in breeding decisions & our program and continues to guide us along. After many years of breeding some of the best animals in the country under the Ripsnorter and Lookout prefixes, she has been awarded a Breeder of Merit Platinum level. Helen is the first person in the breed to have received this title, with a reigning total of 140 titled dogs.
